Call to Order:            The meeting was called to order by President Meghan Whalen at 6:30 p.m. with the following members in attendance:  Jackie and Ron Burns, Jason and Meghan Whalen, Sean and Cassie Wilson, Judy Hughes, Tutty Lessig, Jervais and Christina Carr and Nina Biehler.  Also present, as a guest, was Tutty’s sister Audrey.

July 2009 Meeting Minutes:             A motion to accept the July 2009 meeting minutes as circulated was made by Jackie and seconded by Ron.  The motion passed and the minutes were accepted.

President’s Report:               Meghan reported that she received a letter from the WCA about a raffle for a rifle that is being held.  Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for the raffle can see Meg for more information.

Meghan also mentioned the new PA dog law, which did not contain many significant changes from before.

Ideas for the location of this year’s Christmas party were discussed and several venues mentioned for consideration included Palmieri’s, Seven Springs and The Meadows Racetrack and Casino, where they also have a bowling alley.  The discussion was tabled for action to be taken at a future meeting.

Secretary’s Report:               Nina reported that she had received the applications for the New Castle shows for 2010, which she gave to Judy.

Treasurer’s Report:              Jervais said she had not yet received the money from the Canfield specialties.

The income from the raffles held at the Canfield Cluster was reported as $70.00 from the 50/50 raffle, $180.00 from the basket raffle and $120 from the photo raffle.  Many thanks to all who donated to these raffles to make them possible.

Committee Reports:

Rescue:  Nina reported that she has been receiving quite a few calls about Weimaraner rescue and that many are from people looking to adopt a dog.  Dogs that people wanted to surrender included one that was 10 years old and one that was 13 years old.  All callers have been referred to Tri State Weim Rescue’s website to fill out the appropriate forms.

Fundraising for rescue by wrapping gifts at local book stores was discussed.  It was decided to hold at least two different gift wrapping sessions, one in the South Hill and one in the Monroeville area.  Money raised would benefit Tri State Weim Rescue and also be used to pay for the monthly ad in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.  Nina will contact Barnes & Noble to try to set up times for the club to participate in the gift wrapping events.

Membership:  Nina presented an application for membership from Johnette Dinello, which was read to the members present.  Tutty moved that Johnette be accepted as a new member and Ron seconded the motion.  The motion passed on oral vote and Johnette Dinello was accepted as a new member.
